Thornbird Estate
We welcome you to our holiday home, Thornbird Estate. Set on two acres of gardens it’s a combination of elegant country charm and sophisticated modern style. This home is our sanctuary and we have been very mindful when selecting furnishings and products. We support a circular economy, and try to eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials and regenerate nature. For us, this also means supporting local, thoughtful businesses. Brands we love and have products available for you to use during your stay are: Sheridan, Country Road, Thank You, Koala Eco & The Dirt. As you know, we love Australian cotton! I thoroughly enjoyed styling with locally grown cotton stems and we prioritising the use of Australian cotton linen and napery throughout!
Wear Next
Clare Press invites you to imagine and participate in, the future of fashion in her book Wear Next. We can’t wait to dive into our copy, but first.. some of the rich points of conversation from the Brisbane launch!
Australian cotton showcased in Brisbane fashion boutique
Australian cotton showcased in Brisbane Fashion Month Pop Up Boutique in Brisbane City this month. Designer Emma Bond is inspired by the Australian cotton industry “I love that our growers are family farmers, people that love their land and are active in their communities. You put all your energy into growing it right, so I ensure it is designed and sewn right too. Cotton is a natural fit in the circular economy. My new Australian cotton bridal collection is made from biologically circular inputs with zero hidden plastics.”

The Textile Exchange Cotton Round Table
I was curious and excited to participate in The Textile Exchange Cotton Round Table in Amsterdam. I believe it’s important to be part of this discussion of preferred fibres and maintain a global perspective. I had the opportunity to speak with others gaining valuable insights, empathy and knowledge all the while sharing and contributing. You can register for the virtual round table on July 6 - link provided within.
Global Fashion Summit
Emma Bond attended the Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen and chose to illustrate and take notes so that we may visually share key messages and the passion clearly present, driving ambition to action! Illustrations and notes were made from life, at the event.

Fashion to field
Whilst in the region for the Fibre to Fashion event, Emma had the chance to visit cotton grower & engineer, Scott Morgan. Standing in the cotton fields on his farm with cotton waste breaking down in the soils and solar powered energy powering irrigation, we share this story.
