About our stems

  • A huge number of flowers are flown into Australia every week. They carry enormous carbon miles, many are grown in greenhouses and are chemically treated when they enter Australia. We grow in fields and gardens providing local ecosystems for pollinators & wildlife. We focus on diversity, intercropping and seasonal local production to foster thriving and resilient ecosystems.

  • The circular economy is a system where materials never become waste and nature is regenerated. The circular economy is based on three principles, driven by design: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products & materials (at their highest value), and regenerate nature. We do not use any single-use plastics on farm, during distribution, or arranging. We compost green waste on farm. We keep materials in use - from cardboard used as weed matting, to vase returns and hire. Ribbons are crafted from excess fabric (natural fibres only), and we stock vintage vases. Florists, we pack your order in buckets with flowers unsleeved, this saves you precious time & reduces waste. Find out more about: #CircularEconomy #koreannaturalfarming #sustainablefloristry

  • In 2016, I visited the flower market and bought a haul of blooms for our wedding. We bought them at the local Brisbane flower market then drove to regional Australia where we were married! On the eve of our wedding as I arranged our blooms that I naively had thought were all grown locally, I was disappointed to find that the roses had actually travelled from Kenya! This was unsettling for me, I’d hoped that my purchase was supporting local jobs and the safe working conditions we have here. Following our wedding, I started growing cut flowers and investigating further. As my passion grew, so did my husband's and in 2024 we purchased our property where we now grow.

Our team is just us, Nathan & Emma. We have great pride in supplying local florists with field grown blooms! I am curious and always keen to grow unusual cut flowers that will bring that extra touch to the most special of events. We do also sell to the public, you can see our menu here.

Oh and a little more context, I am an artist. I studied a Bachelor of Fine Art at The University of Newcastle and work as a live event illustrator. I have illustrated for Maserati, Versace, Brisbane Fashion Festival, Fashion Queensland, Brisbane Race Club and many fabulous couples on their wedding day. I am also a fashion designer & create made to order gowns for my lovely clients.

Lovely to meet you. Please connect with me on Instagram at @licencetobloom and @madiandpip You may like to sign up for our newsletter. You can contact me here.
