Deadstock fabric explained

We rescue perfectly beaut fabrics to craft you special garments. Here’s how it works.

Deadstock is unused fabric from fashion designers and fabric mills. Extra fabric may be held for some time, but eventually (and too often) it reaches a tipping point, where its’ storage becomes too costly and the fine fabrics become waste destined for landfill or incineration. Sometimes only a few metres are unused, but occasionally hundreds or even thousands of metres are left.

Often the quantities of a fabric are small. We quite like that. Real people sew your clothes, and working with a small quantity makes it fun and forces us to problem solve and adapt. Repetition can lead to lower prices and speedier production- but it simply isn’t fulfilling for our machinists. We also know making small quantities of a design makes them special. You love it- cause you know there aren’t a million of these out there, someone actually crafted the garment on your order, just for your beaut body. Aren’t you lucky.

Wall Fabrics and The Fabric Store are constantly sourcing fabrics from across the globe, predominantly from finely edited stock collections previously used by high end, world renowned fashion brands. They connect us to the beautiful fabrics we use! Even our Liberty is actually sourced as mill overruns and end-of-line stock.

And our other fabrics?

When choosing fabric we only buy deadstock fabric, Liberty (we simply can’t resist it’s heritage, quality and craftsmanship; find out more about it HERE), recycled cotton (from The New Denim Project) &  Australian Super Cotton (because we love our local farmers and they happen to produce the world’s best cotton, whilst utilising THE most water efficient system in the world. Find out more HERE).
