Her illustration clients include Maserati Brisbane, Brisbane Racing Club, Mont Blanc, Queensland Ballet, Fashion Queensland, Brisbane Fashion Festival, and many local brides and grooms. “My artworks capture a moment in time: they are a memorable experience for guests. Turning the page of my artworks to show to guests is magical! When designing clothes, my work is very precise and methodical. My art practice is the opposite: it captures a fleeting moment in time, with all the joy and feeling of the present! It is also about allowing people to see themselves as others see them: often with kinder eyes! I adore capturing fragments of personality and little details; from a small necklace to a tattoo peeking out from under a sleeve. Fast, gestural strokes don’t capture it all, but I do emphasise what I think may be important to the sitter. My art practice is interactive, it is pure joy to create.” Emma Bond
Emma is a Fine Arts teacher registered with Queensland College of Teachers. She has lectured at Queensland University of Technology, Tafe and The Fashion Institute.
About the house and garden:
Set on two acres of gardens our art deco inspired holliday home offers a combination of elegant country charm and sophisticated modern style. The flower garden is a small section at the back of our property, beyond the creek. It contains specialty flowers consciously grown and arranged with no single use plastics, using growing practices that build soil health and biodiversity.
Like our holiday home? It is available for stays via airbnb.
What to wear:
Please wear (or bring) gumboots. The secret garden is on the other side of a small creek. There is no bridge - just stepping stones. Alternatively, we can pick the flowers for you, just leave a note when you book.
Please be aware:
We share our garden with native animals. You are likely to see Kangaroos & birds. Wildlife is wild - please don’t try to pat any animals, birds or bugs! The flower garden is loved by ants, bees & spiders - you may also see them out and about and they are best left alone.
