Iordanes Spyridon Gogos

X Powerhouse for Afterpay Australian Fashion Week 2022

Jordan Gogos collaborates with over 50 creatives to change how we engage in fashion.

Iordanes Spyridon Gogos (ISG) is a ‘conduit for community making and co-design’ this year collaborating with more than 50 individuals and institutions from architects, through to musicians and florists to curate the runway collection for Afterpay Australia Fashion Week 2022.

Jordan Gogos:

“The idea of ‘ownership’ within art needs to be abolished and discarded or unused materials, threads need to be shared, not thrown away or put in storage.”

Chosen for the Powerhouse’s designer residency program, we adore the sheer detail and volume of work in the creations led by Jordan Gogos. One patchwork hat alone has 1.8 million stitches in it, taking weeks to sew.

Questioning ideas around authorship and the pursuit of originality. Gogos views himself as the person who unpicks existing ideas, rethreading them in his brand to unleash a new feeling.

The vivid and sculptural runway stage and set at Powerhouse, photos taken minutes before the show commenced

I was so excited to be invited to this innovative show, hosted under the aeroplanes of the Powerhouse transport galleries. The vivacious details of garments and set, the sculptural headpieces- this was a spectacular celebration of fine art, fashion and collaboration!
